Avoid the long grass

Difficult one to identify this - but where you get an offer / suggestion of a way forward, just have it in your mind that it might be a sideshow designed to help keep you occupied or to help time pass until it's too late for something else to happen.

Yes - I have been "long-grassed" far more times than I like to admit ... I suppose you're getting somewhere if someone considers it worth doing ...
